Garalo Project

- Clean electricity production (using locally produced Jatropha oil) ACCESS SARL, an innovative Malian energy service provision company, has been selected by the Municipality of Garalo to provide electricity services in the village of Garalo. On this basis, and according to Malian legislation, ACCESS was awarded a concession by the Government of Mali (through the Ministry of Energy, Mines & Water and its rural electrification agency AMADER Agence Malienne de Développement de l'Energie Domestique et de l'Electrification Rurale) to be sole electricity supplier in the village of Garalo for a period of 15 years. According to the national legislation, AMADER will own the Garalo power station and electricity grid. ACCESS will be the manager of the hardware, which has 300kW of diesel gensets which have been converted to run on pure Jatropha oil. Jatropha oil is purchased form the Garalo Bagani Cooperative and is used in the power station to generate electricity for the village. The electricity is sold on a monthly fee basis according to tariffs in a contract signed with AMADER.
